The iPhone – and its users and developers – have been waiting for this for quite some ‎time now: the iPhone SDK. The SDK (software development kit) allows developers to ‎quickly and easily write iPhone applications for download suited for the iPhone’s hardware. The iPhone SDK ‎will also allow seamless integration with current applications, maintaining a common ‎interface “look and feel”.‎
The beta announcement of the iPhone SDK with download predictably caused a storm in the Apple ‎community and generated over 100,000 downloads of the kit itself and over 1 million ‎views of Apple’s video of the event. This fanatical fervor succeeded in crashing Apple’s ‎servers. Whoops.‎
Application developers can now start to plan their applications and count their money: ‎while the iPhone SDK apps isn’t officially released yet (and there is no word on when it will ‎be) this is the time that work begins.‎
Watch out for a flood of classic games, useful iPhone apps, and totally useless software.‎
