Ares is so easy anyone can use it!

August 19th, 2008   General   No Comments »

I happened across a website today that really caught my eye. I’m a particularly web savvy girl so for something to catch my attention it has to be really very good. It was. The site is OfficialAres.com and it is the Ying and Yang of all things to do with the Ares filesharing software, and music sharing in general.

Top of the list of useful features are excellent reviews that it provides: good, bad or ugly (and there are some of each!) the reviews team pick them out and grill them to within an inch of their lives. No punches are pulled here!

Next on is the news section. Current affairs sites dedicate to the Ares filesharing software are rare, but this pretty much fits that bill as well as anywhere is going to. The news is humorous and is really a pleasure to read. There is an FAQ section, along with some hints and tips, that cover most of the problems experienced by new (and old!) users of Ares. There’s a great article about setting Ares up to work with Windows Vista. Well worth a read if you’ve ever had connection problems!

It might sound like I’m promoting this site, and in a way I am. Not because I’m paid to or because I’m hired by the owners or anything, but because it’s so good. I definitely recommend you taking a quick look.

Phuket bars really do live up to their name

July 31st, 2008   General   No Comments »

If you’re traveling to Phuket then you’re sure to want to experience the wondrous Phuket bars. Phuket bars are legendary and for very good reason.

The main centre of nightlife in Phuket is centered around the Bangla Road, a sprawling 600m long affair packed back to back with pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and market stalls selling all sorts of interesting things.

Off Bangla road itself is a number of side streets, each called a ‘Soi’, which again contain many places of entertainment. The bars and such in each Soi are closely grouped together; it is often the case that one DJ will provide music for all places on the Soi. This gives each one a distinctly ‘themed’ feel and means that traveling between different Sois is vital if you want to experience the variety that Phuket bars can provide.

Each Soi has an interesting name like ‘Soi Lion’, ‘Soi Crocodile’ or similar. They don’t really give an accurate impression of what the Soi is going to be like, but they do help the vacationing visitor find where he is!

The Phuket bars really do live up to their name and visiting – and partaking of some of the Amber liquid provided by the bars – is something you really must do before you die!

If you are Looking to Download iPhone Music

July 23rd, 2008   General   No Comments »

If you are looking to download iPhone music then there are few thoughts you might consider before you decide how you’re going to go about this.

First, and probably foremost, is in choosing whether you want free iPhone music downloads or whether you want to pay for them. Both are equally plausible and really it comes down to how you feel about the ‘free’ downloads that will influence your decision.

Free iPhone music downloads are, almost invariably, illegal. It is unlikely that you will be caught for downloading illegally, but there is the possibility. Even if you are not caught you may object on moral grounds to what some people regard as stealing.

On the other hand paying for iPhone music downloads can get really, really expensive. If you’ve got the money then perhaps this isn’t an issue; for many millions over the world it definitely is an issue and may well be the overwhelming reason behind any choice you make.

Next on everyone’s list should be security: an iPhone infected with a virus is a useless iPhone. Illegal downloads from torrent sites and the like are more likely to be infected with a virus or spyware than the paid-for versions, but don’t rule out the possibility that the latter are infected.

Low profile for Salvia until now

July 15th, 2008   General   No Comments »

Salvia has had a fairly low profile for many years. Recently, with the sudden rush of disapproval from lawmakers and politicians, this low profile has been drastically elevated. More people now know about the drug and there has been a surge in purchases from stores both online and on the high street. This surge in interest is ironic simply for the fact that the increased media coverage came as a result of the attempts to ban the herb in some states in the US.

The first mention of Salvia on paper was in 1939. There were very few recorded notes of it after this until the 1960s, when scholars Richard Schultes and R Gordon Wasson were the first to point out — in the a report written in 1963 — that Salvia has played an important role in their spiritual explorations. This was a minor footnote, however, and Salvia had to wait until the late 1990s until it got its glory days.

Salvia remains entirely legal today – apart from in a few states where it its use and distribution is controlled. It can be bought both in plant form and in the form of a potentiated extract which is up to 60x stronger. Salvia’s popularity is only growing.

Ares and where to download

July 11th, 2008   General   No Comments »

I am a fairly hardened Ares fan; I’ve used it pretty much from the beginning and I think I pride myself on what goes on in the world of filesharing. Imagine my surprise, then, when I discovered an absolute gem of a site. OfficialAres.com contains loads and loads of information on filesharing and music downloading.

To start with there are the reviews. The reviews help those who want to download Ares for the first time. It turns out that they also help old timers like me who want a pithy comparison on the main flavors of Ares available; I didn’t think I wanted to download Ares until I read the reviews and found, for shame, that I didn’t have the ‘best version’ (not even one of the better ones, it turns out!).

Then there is the news which comes through at a fairly regular pace throughout the week. There’s generally some legal problem or other (instigated by the RIAA or its many minions) to solve and even if not everything is relevant to those who want to download Ares, there’s always something worth reading.

The FAQs are very useful; they may even be essential to those people embarking on their first attempt to download Ares.

All in all this is a great site and it’s definitely worth a visit whether you’re new to the game or think you ‘know it all’. Ahem. Like me.

Home Business Review Sites Assists Your Research

July 9th, 2008   General   No Comments »

I took a lot of time to research the home business opportunity. I knew this was a huge turning point in my life. I was exciting but I wanted to get it right. I think that feeling is only natural, really. I saw this as an opportunity to truly work for myself, not for some faceless boss a few floors above me drinking brandy in a board room somewhere.

One part of the research that I did take a lot of care over was in finding a home business review of the opportunities I was examining. I was able to discard a number of the opportunities purely based on examination of the home business review; it wasn’t always that the opportunity was a poor one, just that I could tell that it wouldn’t have suited me.

Using the home business review – found at excellent sites like CitizenCorps.com – I was able to identify one or two opportunities that really suited me. It turns out I made the correct choice.

It’s unlikely that the home business review was the only part of the research that did me any good – all the other aspects were useful too – but it was, without doubt, a very useful weapon in my arsenal.

Solution for Ares not connecting

July 8th, 2008   General   No Comments »

It’s not often that my youngest son will cry in front of me. The reason? It turns out he was having some trouble with Ares not connecting. Yes I agree, it seems a little trivial and no really something that he should be crying about, but hey, what do I know? I told him he should stop worrying about little things like Ares not connecting and start worrying about getting a job and finding a girlfriend: it’s just not healthy for a 25 year old to be still living with his parents.

So I explained what that the first thing that happens when Ares fires up is that it connects to other nodes in the network. This process of Ares connecting is essential for the software to start sharing its wares.

The problem, it seems, is that versions like Ares Galaxy – the old timers like me – forget which are the ‘good’ nodes and which are the bad ones. When the program starts back up, then it fails to find any decent connections and just doesn’t know where to being.

The problem with Ares not connecting is, thankfully, solved in later versions of Ares (try Ares Ultimate and Ares Vista for a start) and I just pointed him towards those instead of trying to console him. Kids!

Common misspellings of Ares

June 26th, 2008   General   No Comments »

The spell checker is a truly wonderful thing, but I find that it has made people (me included) a little lazy. This is most noticeable when it comes to things that I read online and, because I’m a geek like this, when I analyze the logs for the OfficialAres.com website.

Thousands of people get to the website every day looking for information on Ares (or Aeres, or Aers, as some people like to call it), and I’m always seeing varying permutations of the spelling for the word (presumably as people rush to type it into Google or a similar search engine). Until there is a speel checker integrated into Google, I suspect that all websites will see people’s misspellings going to their or to other peoples’ websites.

Sometimes it’s just a case of letters being closer together on a keyboard, meaning you hit one rather than the other: Arez and Areas are good examples of this. Sometimes we get ‘real’ words that people’s fingers are obviously typing without their owners really thinking about it: Aries and Aires are two examples.

Sometimes we get spellings that are so obviously wrong that we have to assume that people simply don’t have any idea of how the word is spelt – Aris is an example of this – and these could be visitors whose first language is not English.

Patong Girls hard to understand

June 26th, 2008   General   No Comments »

Trying to understand Patong girls can be a fruitless task, but it is one which every man must try and do if he is to survive in this cutthroat world.

There’s absolutely no doubt that the Patong girls a completely unique breed. An enigma in fact. This is what makes trying to understand Patong girls so difficult (as if understanding women wasn’t difficult enough as it is). It’s clear, in their native land of Patong at least, that they are the ones in charge. They are calling the shots and the control the lay of the land. This is why trying to understand Patong girls is both difficult and necessary at the same time.

Patong’s nightlife is rather seedy, and is focused primarily on go-go bars and seedy beer and karaoke bars. In all of these places the Patong girls hang around, waiting for the naïve and curious foreigner to come through the door and start waving his money around. These people – the ones that make no attempt at trying to understand Patong girls – are the ones that are targeted most relentlessly by the girls that are so much ‘in love’ with the man.

This is not to everyone’s taste, but some men quite simply think that they have died and gone to Patong girl heaven.

Smoking Salvia is the best legal high!

June 26th, 2008   General   No Comments »

Salvia is perhaps more widely known now than it was a few years back. This is partly due, ironically enough, to the widespread media coverage calling for its ban. Despite this backlash from the media and from politicians, Salvia remains legal in most of the US states, and, in the vast majority of countries worldwide.

Smoking Salvia is the most effective way to get the potent hallucinogenic into the right places in your body, and the quickest way to get to the pretty intense trip that users love to experience. And intense it is. I’ve ingested my fair share of hallucinogens over the years, but smoking Salvia has to be one of the most “out there” trips that I’ve come across. If it were not for the very short timeframe of the trip – a few minutes at most – then I have no doubt that smoking Salvia would rival LSD and mushrooms in both popularity and illegality.

Obtaining the right equipment to start smoking Salvia is very, very easy; the fact that the drug is completely legal in most US states helps this, of course. All that is needed apart from the smelly black flakes is some kind of pipe. Oh, and a lighter.

Smoking Salvia is not for everyone, but it is a unique experience, and it is worth trying out.
