Introspection is a funny thing. Some people are eminently more capable of being introspective than are others. Introspection is not the same as being self-critical, but anyone who is able to be rationally self-critical is on the way to true introspection. Many people ask me how they can start to achieve true introspection. The answer is easy: buy salvia.

For the moment you can buy salvia and still remain on the right side of the law. Be careful, though: if you buy salvia in a state where it is legal, then move into a state where it is illegal, then it is entirely possible that you will fall foul of the law. Some states are offering up to 10 years of board and food in the finest government institutions for those with the audacity to buy salvia on their turf; possession is a less demanding crime, but you could still face some time in the big house for it.

Once you’re satisfied that you’re not going to do time for attempting some introspection, you can safely carry on with your plan. Take a good dose of Salvia and kick back. Soon your head will wander (literally, in some cases) and you will find yourself thinking in completely different ways to how you would normally think. Think about yourself and these trains of thought will chug away. Enjoy!
